Ray Kanani

Biography

Ray Kanani is a senior associate in the firm’s business, financial services, and real estate groups. His business and financial services practice covers all aspects of corporate and commercial law, with a particular emphasis on secured lending, mergers and acquisitions, sales of businesses, and corporate reorganizations. Ray’s real estate practice encompasses a wide array of matters pertaining to the acquisition, financing, co-ownership, and development of all forms of real property including commercial, industrial, and multi-family real estate.

Ray provides ongoing strategic advice and assistance to clients throughout their company’s life cycle, from formation, to the negotiation and preparation of various commercial agreements, and eventually to exit planning. Ray has guided clients through many large transactions including complex share and asset acquisitions and dispositions. He is trusted by private and institutional lenders and borrowers to assist in implementing secured lending facilities and various loan transactions.

Prior to becoming an associate, Ray worked as a summer student and completed his articles at the firm. He is actively involved in the recruitment and development of the firm’s junior lawyers as a member of the student committee and mentor. In his spare time, Ray can be found shooting way over par on the golf course and enjoying movies that are so bad that…they’re actually kind of good.
