GMC & Chevrolet Engine Oil Consumption
We were pursuing a class action with respect to certain models of GM vehicles (2.4-litre Engines and 5.3-litre Engines) with respect to allegations of the vehicles’ burn-off/consumption of abnormally high amounts of oil.
GM put in place a Special Coverage Program for the 2.4-litre Engine vehicles. The action has now been discontinued. As part of the order to discontinue, GM agreed that they would reach out directly to those with 2.4-litre Engine vehicles who had contacted our office to extend the time to take advantage of their Special Coverage Program. GM is not providing any benefits at this time to those with 5.3-litre Engines. The discontinuance does not release class member claims, meaning you can still bring an action if desired. Please note the typical limitation period is two years from the time you knew or ought to have known of your claim, and the limitation period is stayed from the time our action was filed, September 14, 2020, until the date it was discontinued December 5, 2022.
For your reference, attached is a copy of the Order of Justice Nicholson dated November 22, 2022, along with a copy of the Notice of Discontinuance.
