Michael Peerless and Matthew Villeneuve to Lead the Firm as Managing Partner and Associate Managing Partner

Michael Peerless has been named the firm’s Managing Partner, effective December 1, 2020.

A highly experienced and accomplished class action litigator, Michael has been recognized repeatedly by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and Best Lawyers in Canada.

Mavis Butkus will step down after a three-year tenure as Managing Partner.

Mavis oversaw many noteworthy developments at our firm through welcoming new partners, associates, and students and numerous significant community initiatives and charitable programs. As Managing Partner, Mavis played a critical role in ensuring that the firm responded effectively to the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Mavis will remain a senior partner with the firm’s Commercial Litigation group.

James Elsley will step down as Associate Managing Partner with Matthew Villeneuve taking on that role. Matthew is the Practice Group Leader of the firm’s Family Law Department and has been practicing law for over 15 years.
